Our Research Focus

Developing new and comprehensive strategies to fight chronic viruses and cancer

Our laboratory is focused on understanding the mechanisms and cellular interactions that drive immune suppression in cancer and chronic viral infections. Our goal is to use this information to overcome the suppressive pathways to broadly restore immunity to eliminate these diseases. Our lab has been the first to discover many new mechanisms of immune regulation and paradoxical linkages between inflammation and immunosuppression. Many of our discoveries are being extended to treat and predict outcomes of human disease. 

 

To understand the immune mechanisms that regulate control of cancer and chronic infections, our laboratory uses multiple cutting-edge high dimensional approaches to interrogate mouse models, human tissues, and clinical trials.
